"I have nothing but good things to say about the Trent Extramural Hockey Program as Trent has established a very good reputation for their hockey program. In its 5 years of existence Trent has qualified for the Challenge Cup every season, placing in four of the 5 years (1st, 2nd and two 3rd’s). Having played 3 years and being an Assistant Coach for another, it’s an honour to represent your University and wear the Excalibur jersey. Extramural hockey is so much fun and very competitive, as the majority of its players currently or use to play Junior hockey. The one day tournaments are great as you get to play 3-5 games in a day while only missing one day of class. The Excalibur are more than just a hockey team they are a family and playing for Trent will allow players to develop lifelong friendships with your teammates as well as the coaching staff. For any hockey player looking to attend University and play a high level of non-contact hockey I would recommend trying out for the Excalibur team."

Former player and Assistant Coach (2010-2014)

"I had the pleasure of being with the Trent hockey team for four years—two as a player and two as an assistant coach. On the ice, the team has been on an upward trajectory since its inception, which is a real testament to the dedication of the players and coaches over the years. This dedication was fully realized when the team won the 2015 Challenge Cup, the first in school history. I personally take great pride in what we were able to accomplish during my time with the team, but not just in terms of our success on the ice. One of the great strengths of the Trent hockey program is that is provides student-athletes an opportunity to be involved and cultivate important skills outside of the rink. As a self-managed team, players have been responsible for organizing fundraisers, coordinating special events, and engaging the Peterborough community through social media, radio and newspaper interviews, and participating in local public events. Every hockey player knows that you can’t play the game forever so developing into responsible adults is always an underlying focus of the team. Ultimately, when you get to play good hockey, make good friends, and build a strong professional network through a good education, it’s a recipe for success."
