ABOUT US
In 2009 the Trent University Men's hockey team began its quest for gold with its inaugural year. Representing the Trent colours proudly the team embarks on a tournament style season playing from October to March against University and College school teams all across Ontario. This is an Extramural program, which simply means we play against schools that make up the OCAA as the league is represented by the OCCCR.
Each year the team gets to meet new faces and young men who are attending Trent that compete for a spot on the hockey team. The team encourages all who have played hockey to come tryout for the team every September. With the demands of school work and academic expectations some players cannot attend every tournament. This is our justification for carrying a roster anywhere between 25-29 players.
The team relies on its vetern players to take on the responsibility of mentoring and leading the new players. For anyone who is familiar with the movie Slap Shot, the team uses the "Reggie Dunlop" approach to help make the team operational on and off the ice. Our captains play an important role to the team as they act as secondary coaches.
Over the years the program has done nothing but improved in every aspect.
